Avatar: The Way Of Water needs to make just $47.4 million to have grossed $2 billion and cross what has been widely reported to be the film’s break-even point, a feat it will likely accomplish this weekend.
As of Thursday, the movie has grossed $1.9526 billion, since it was released on December 16.
Heading into its sixth weekend, Avatar: The Way Of Water is the No. 6 highest-grossing film of all time, knocking down 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Last weekend, the film grossed over $32 million domestically.
In crossing the $2 billion mark, The Way Of Water could surpass the grosses of the top five highest-grossing movies of all time—the only ones to pass that mark: Avengers: Infinity War (No. 5), Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (No. 4), Titanic (No. 3), Avengers: Endgame (No. 2) and Avatar (No. 1).
